Tensions About the Holidays

A poor teenager in a small, rural town forgotten by society received news that would transform the world. God would become man. And she would partake in that miracle. Her reaction was not joy, but apprehension, doubt, but finally, acceptance.

This close to Christmas, last minute preparations and social events can make your family apprehensive. Tension rises in the house. Nerves fray. And the joy of the season turns to anger. "Why do we do this every year?" you might ask. But, in the back of your mind, you accept the inevitable coming of the season.

Share your feeling with your family as you read Luke 1:26-38 to them. Who is tense about the holidays? What can be done about the tension? Simply taking the time to pray and sharing together can relieve the anxiety you or your family members might feel.
