Welcome Mat

Jesus called Matthew, a tax collector, and welcomed sinners to dine with him. His example challenges us to ask a simple question: how do we welcome others in our homes?

To focus on this question, have your family create a welcome mat for your home. Buy or create a mat. Have your family members write welcoming messages on the mat. (A blessing to those who enter would be appropriate.) Finally, cover the mat in a clear sealer to protect the messages. And place the mat on the front doorstep. Gather your family around the mat and pray that God will welcome all who enter. Also pray for the patience and power to serve them in love.
